Most training videos are watched passively, and learners forget them quickly. Colossyan lets you turn documents and slides into AI avatar videos with quizzes and branching scenarios built in, then export them as SCORM packages that report scores to your learning management system (LMS).
This guide takes you from a PDF or PowerPoint to an interactive, trackable training video, even if you have never built an e-learning course before.

Step-by-step: build your interactive training video
Step 1: Define the objective and outline
Write one sentence describing what learners should be able to do after the video, then list 3–5 key points. Keep the video under 6 minutes; split bigger topics into a series.
Good objectives use action verbs: identify, choose, explain, apply.
Step 2: Import your document or slides
Use document-to-video to upload a PDF; Colossyan builds scenes and narration automatically. Or import a PowerPoint: slides become scenes and speaker notes become the narration.
Step 3: Choose avatars and voices
Add an avatar and voice to each scene. For role-plays, use Conversation Mode to place two avatars in one scene, such as a manager and an employee, and script a back-and-forth dialogue. Add custom pronunciations for brand names and acronyms.
Step 4: Edit the script and visuals
Shorten the auto-generated narration so each scene makes one point. Add on-screen text, icons and screenshots, and apply your brand kit for colours, fonts and logo.
Step 5: Add quiz questions
Insert multiple-choice questions after each key section as knowledge checks. Write one clearly correct answer and two or three plausible distractors.
Ask about decisions, not definitions: “What should Maria do next?” teaches more than “What does MFA stand for?”
Step 6: Add a branching scenario
Add a “What would you do next?” checkpoint where each answer leads to a different scene showing the consequence. Branching makes learners practise decisions in a safe space.
Step 7: Preview the learner experience
Play the video as a learner: answer questions correctly and incorrectly, and follow each branch to make sure every path ends correctly.
Step 8: Export as SCORM and test in your LMS
Export the video as a SCORM package with pass/fail tracking for the interactive checks. Set the pass mark (for example 80%) and quiz tracking. SCORM 2004 is commonly recommended for direct LMS upload, but confirm which version your LMS supports.
Upload the package to your LMS and complete it once as a test user to confirm the score and completion are recorded.
Always test the SCORM file in your own LMS before launch. Different LMSs handle SCORM versions and completion rules differently.
