Virtual staging adds realistic furniture to photos of empty rooms so buyers and renters can picture living there. With HomeDesigns AI it takes a few minutes per photo.
This guide follows HomeDesigns AI’s Virtual Staging workflow, plus the rules that keep staged listings honest.

Step-by-step: stage an empty room
Step 1: Upload a bright photo of the empty room
Use a sharp, well-lit photo of an empty or nearly empty room. If the room is not empty, remove items first with Furniture Removal.
Step 2: Select the room type
Click View All and choose the room or camera angle, such as living room, bedroom or kitchen, so the AI adds the right furniture.
Step 3: Choose a design style
Pick from 75+ styles. Match the style to the likely buyer: Modern or Scandinavian for city apartments, Farmhouse or Traditional for family homes.
Step 4: Add instructions (optional)
In Additional Instructions, specify items or exclusions, for example “large sectional sofa, dark wood finishes, no rugs”.
Step 5: Keep the window background
Tick Keep window background to keep the real view outside. This matters for honest listings.
Step 6: Set AI Intervention low
Use the slider (1 to 4). Low values furnish the room without touching the architecture; high values can remove walls.
For listing photos, stay at level 1 or 2 so walls, windows and doors are not changed.
Step 7: Generate 1–4 versions
Choose the number of designs (1 credit each) and click Generate New Designs.
Step 8: Enhance and download
Click HD to sharpen the image, then download. To keep editing in another tool, hover over the image and click the Edit icon.
